The TRA VISIONS 2024 Young Researcher Competition is an EU-funded initiative is aimed at University and Research Institutes young researchers pursuing bachelor's degrees and higher (Master's and PhD) in all scientific domains involving transport, sustainability, mobility, energy, engineering, and related areas. The competition presents an opportunity for young researchers to showcase their work on an international stage (attended by academia, industry and European Union representatives) at the Transport Research Arena (TRA) 2024 Conference, which will be held in Dublin from April 15 to 18, 2024.
Participating in the TRA VISIONS Young Researcher Competition is easy! The YRC is open to individuals, as well as teams up to 7 members, enrolled and/or recently graduated from universities, colleges and research institutes from across the European Union, EU Candidate Countries, Potential EU Candidate Countries and European Economic Area.
Each team can submit one idea, and each idea is submitted under one of the 5 Modes of the Competition: Road, Rail, Waterborne, Airborne, and Cross-Modality. For each of the Modes, the best 10 ideas will be shortlisted and then evaluated by a panel of field experts coming from academia, industry and the European Commission.
Why should you participate in the TRA VISIONS Young Researcher Competition?
There are many reasons why to participate! Firstly, the Top Three ideas per each Mode of the YRC receives up to 5.000 € cash prizes from the sponsors, in addition to travel expenses (paid roundtrip airfare and accommodation) to the TRA Conference host city, and TRA Conference entrance ticket.
If that is not enough, participating in TRA VISIONS gives students the unique opportunity to showcase their ideas, ingenuity and creativity in front of a huge audience of transport experts, industry representatives and EU policymakers, in the context of one of the main transport-related conferences in Europe. Such a platform is difficult to reach at such an early stage of one’s research carrier, but that is one of the main objectives of the TRA VISIONS initiative: build a vibrant community of transport innovators and researchers in Europe to foster interaction between specialists working in transport.
