After waiting for 4 long years, "Internationale Luftfahrtausstellung" (ILA) which means the International Aeronautical Exhibition was organized by the German Trade Association of Aerospace Industries (BDLI).
This flagship event took place from 22nd to 26th June 2022 at the new BER Airport in Berlin. EUROAVIA Braunschweig visited ILA2022 on Friday, 24th June 2022 with its 22 members. AS Braunschweig also planned the Fly-In which included the ILA Visit in 2020, but the event was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The first 3 days of the event are for the trade visitors and the last two days are for the general public.
AS Braunschweig along with other local groups in Germany was invited and sponsored by Airbus for the trade visitor tickets and special student Tour. The sponsorship was secured by Simon Blase, Team leader of Excursion of AS Stuttgart. The tour started with the static display of the latest A350XWB, the famous Beluga plane, Eurodrone, Airbus helicopter, and several ongoing projects of Airbus. After exploring the new airspace cabin and cockpit of the A350XWB, the tour continued to the Airbus projects in the space segment and Ariane6. The group was briefed about the ZEROe project, the FCAS system, and the latest A321 XLR aircraft by the respective experts. The talent acquisition partners of Airbus gave an elaborated presentation with a Q&A round to the smaller groups and shared the opportunities within Airbus and the working culture of the company.
After the dedicated Airbus tour, the group got the opportunity to see exciting and latest projects from the German Aerospace Center (DLR), OHB, MTU Aero engines, Bundeswehr, RollsRoyce, Ariane Group, and many more. The presence of the top leaders and engineers of the Industry, interaction with german astronauts, flying displays, and first appearances of the latest technology made this event unparallel. Due to immensely positive feedback from the members of AS Braunschweig, the local group aims to make the visit to ILA a regular affair in the annual planning.
